8 things to remember when you are struggling to find strength

It can be hard to keep it together when it feels like everything around you is falling apart. The hardest part is staying positive and remembering that no pain comes without a purpose. However once we learn to change the way we look at things, the things we look at change too.

Here are 8 things you should never forget and to remind you stay strong.

1. Nothing stays the same.
When you’re at your lowest point and it feels like things will never get better, remember that your pain is temporary and will pass. The only constant is change. Nothing lasts forever including the pain and the struggles you are facing today.

2. Help is always available.
Whether you get help in the form of phoning a helpline or booking an appointment with your gp, there are different forms of help out there to suit your needs. I understand how hard it can be to reach out, especially if it means reaching out to people you know, but the sooner you reach out the sooner you can get help and work towards building a happier and a healthier life. Taking that first step is the hardest part, but it has to be done. There is no shame in needing help. It’s isn’t a sign of weakness or anything to be ashamed of. We all fall on hard times and sometimes we just need a hand to get back up, it doesn’t make us weak it makes us human!

3. The good will always outweigh the bad.
Even when it feels as though life is giving you a hundred reasons to give up, I can assure you there are a hundred and one more reasons to carry on. For all the bad that goes on in the world, there is a lot more good to be found.

4. Look how far you have come.
When you feel as though you can’t go any further, just remember how far you have come to get to where you are. Think of all the bad situations or obstacles you have already faced and remember how hard they were to overcome. Despite this you got through it and no matter how bad things were you are still here today. Just being here is a testiment to your strength and how strong you are. You’ve made it this far, so don’t give up now. You can do this.

5. You are not alone.
You would probably be surprised if you knew how many people feel just like you do. Whatever you are going through there are other people out there who are going through or have gone through the same. It doesn’t help take your problems away but it can help ease the pain to know that you are not on your own. There are many support groups and networks that can be found online set up specifically for people who are going through hard times. This is a good place to go if you feel as though you are not ready to talk to someone you know.

6.Sometimes we have to go through the worst in order to arrive at our best.
Ever heard the saying “things fall apart so better things can fall into place” . Well it’s true. Sometimes good things have to end so that we are able to start over again. Everything that happens is for a reason. Even though we may not understand it now, it will all make sense later. Life has a funny way of switching things up when you least expect it. It may feel like you are being thrown off course, but actually you are being redirected to an even better path.

7. Failure is a crucial part of life.
You can never truly say you have lived until you have felt what it feels like to have lost. Failure is a crucial part of our learning and development as it is teaches us how to become resilient and how learn from our mistakes. If you don’t know what it feels like to fail then how will you ever learn to appreciate success. Don’t let failure or fear or failure stop you from trying. It is always better to try and to fail than to not try at all.

8. Challenges are meant to be met and overcome.
Every challenge brings with it the oppertunity to grow. Life is made up of a series of challenges and each new challenge offers the chance to learn and exceed our previous limits. Life doesn’t get easier as we go on, we just get better at facing the challenges we are faced. If it wasn’t for our struggles we would never find our strengths.

The most important thing to remember is that things don’t get better through chance they get better through change. If you want things to get better, you have to be pro active and take control of your life. It’s not necessarily that time will ease our problems, it’s more that time will teach us how to learn from them and the more we learn the easier it gets to handle them. The easier it is to handle them the more we can enjoy our lives, in the comfort and with the knowledge that we our in control. We have the power to lead happy and stress free lives.

It’s not our problems which hold us back it’s our inability to deal with our problems and to understand that life is full of challenges, it’s just down to how we think, how we act and how we react, which determines wether our problems control us or if we control our problems.
